When is Grandparents' Day and why is it celebrated?
Celebrating our grandparents should be something we do every day. In Spain, there is an official date dedicated to them: July 26th, Grandparents' Day.
The story dates back to the celebration of Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, the grandparents of Jesus and the father of Mary. It's a direct tradition shared by much of Europe, despite being commemorated on different dates.
It's a day to recognize and thank grandparents for their love and support generation after generation. They are the ones who have taught us traditions and values and created important memories for our family. Therefore, it's a good opportunity to show them our affection with something useful.
